Corona pandemic: Working from home increases significantly

Two-thirds of Germans see digital technologies as helpful in the fight against the coronavirus
One in five employees is working from home for the first time because of Corona
In the fight against the corona pandemic, a clear majority of Germans attach great importance to digitalization. Two thirds (65 percent) believe that digital technologies can help slow the spread of the coronavirus, for example through home office.

This is the result of a representative survey of more than 1,000 German citizens aged 16 and over commissioned by the digital association Bitkom. Of the employed respondents, one in two (49 percent) now works from home. For some of them, this is completely new: 18 percent were previously not allowed to work from home at all and now do so temporarily (15 percent) or entirely (3 percent).

Another 31 percent were already able to work from home before and now do so asia gambling data more often (17 percent) or entirely (14 percent). In contrast, 41 percent say that their job is fundamentally not suitable for working from home.

Digital technologies are the key to ensuring the ability of the economy and public institutions such as offices and schools to work, even in this extraordinary crisis situation," says Bitkom President Achim Berg.

"It previously seemed unthinkable that mobile working and mobile learning could become the norm. But now the immense potential that digital technologies fundamentally offer is becoming visible, as if under a magnifying glass - in the fight against the virus as well as in reducing commuter traffic and traffic-related emissions. All companies are required to introduce home offices for activities suitable for this. Politicians must urgently modernize labor law, for example by removing outdated regulations such as the eleven-hour uninterrupted minimum rest period and replacing the rigid eight-hour day with a maximum weekly working time."
