“Prize for Digital Cooperation” expanded to include a special category – prize money increases to a total of 30,000 euros
Germany's first day of action for digital participation will take place on 19 June 2020
The special prize "Digital Cohesion in Times of Corona" will be awarded as part of the first Digital Day on June 19, 2020. The award complements the "Prize for Digital Cohesion", which is also awarded in the categories "Digital Participation" and "Digital Engagement". The prize money thus increases to a total of 30,000 euros - each category is endowed with 10,000 euros.
This was announced by the “Digital for All” initiative. The alliance of 27 organizations from the fields of civil society, culture, science, business, welfare and the public sector is the sponsor of Digital Day, which is taking place in virtual space this year.
"The corona pandemic is presenting society as a whole with unprecedented challenges. Digital technologies can help to overcome these challenges, for example by enabling togetherness in times of physical distancing and facilitating solidarity in times of crisis," says Anna-Lena Hosenfeld, project manager of Digital Day.
Digital technologies enable social interaction in times of physical distancing
Whether it's coffee with friends, visiting grandparents, learning in the classroom or japan gambling data doing the weekly grocery shopping - millions of people are currently shifting their everyday lives into the digital space via messenger services and video telephony, online orders and explanatory videos.
At the same time, numerous committed people are creating new offers that make digital interaction possible or designing solutions that generate support for groups particularly affected by the crisis.
Hosenfeld: "The special prize supports projects that enable digital cohesion, especially with regard to the Corona pandemic. It is explicitly aimed at initiatives that are still being set up and would like to use the prize money to improve and expand their offerings."
Under the hashtag #digitalmiteinander, Digital Day on June 19, 2020 aims to connect people across Germany and offers a platform to shed light on various aspects of digitalization, discuss opportunities and challenges, and initiate a broad social dialogue.
Everyone is welcome to get involved with their own campaigns and online events - whether private individuals, clubs, companies or administrations. Possible formats include webcasts, webinars, live streams, online consultations, virtual tours, tutorials or hackathons.
The aim of Digital Day is to promote digital participation. Everyone in Germany should be able to move confidently and independently in the digital world. After the premiere on June 19, 2020, Digital Day will take place annually.
