The Swiss Mittelland is covered in snow – there hasn't been so much of it since 2006. Personally, I love such exceptional situations. All the white brings back memories of my early days in journalism.
The winter of 1998/1999 was extraordinary: three periods of precipitation brought enormous amounts of snow to the Swiss Alps between January 27 and February 25, 1999. In 30 days, more brazil rcs data than five meters of snow fell across the northern slopes of the Alps.
During one of the three periods of heavy snowfall – namely on February 9, 1999 – I was out and about as a reporter, at the time for the Höfner Volksblatt in Wollerau. I recorded my experiences in a few lines:
"I have rarely met so many people in three hours as I did on Tuesday, to stop. Actually, everyone had avoided going outside as much as possible. Those who could stayed in the office or at home. Our editorial office in Wollerau also organized itself as well as possible and 'compressed' all appointments into a few hours, so that only one person had to 'sacrifice' themselves by going outside. Well, that person was me after all.
