Baselworld opens its doors on Thursday. The world trade fair for watches and jewelry is not having an easy time: boycott of the Swatch Group, horrendous hotel and restaurant prices, a decline in exhibitors, mistakes by the previous management: the trade fair has made many unpleasant headlines in recent months. Swatch boss Nick Hayek even went so far as to say that Baselworld is no longer needed.
How did it come to this? And what does Baselworld need to portugal rcs data change to live up to its former reputation as the industry's highlight?
Baselworld has failed to adapt to the needs of the digital age. Most industries today think and act iteratively, fluidly, with constant feedback from the market. This is already incorporated into the development, not only when the product is ready. This radically changes the meaning and purpose of trade fairs. The market has understood this, but unfortunately most trade fair providers have not.
