During a train and postal bus trip between Lausanne and the Frauenfeld region, we measured the mobile networks of Swisscom, Sunrise (UPC) and Salt. Even if, without much surprise, the historic operator comes out on top, the extent of its lead should really make its competitors think...
After 258 measurements carried out using the Ookla tool, Swisscom came out on top with an average download speed of 254 Mbits/sec, ahead of Sunrise (UPC) with 94 Mbits/sec. Salt came third with 84 Mbits/sec.
Swisscom the best everywhere
In terms of uploading, i.e. sending information over the Internet, Swisscom also stands out with 35 Mbits/sec, ahead of Salt with 33 Mbits/sec. This time, Sunrise (UPC) comes in third with 25 Mbits/sec.
In terms of network responsiveness, Swisscom's observed latency was 16 ms, compared to 19 ms for Salt, and once again Sunrise (UPC) came in third with 25 ms. Overall, however, network access was good.
Salt sometimes in 4G, Sunrise (UPC) more stable
In terms of observed technologies, 100% of overseas chinese in usa dataSwisscom and Sunrise (UPC) measurements were carried out via the 5G network. Salt does less well with 2 measurements in 4G and 5 network outages (inability to measure the network).
In terms of top speed, once again, Swisscom comes out far ahead with a maximum download speed of 1236 Mbits/sec. The same goes for uploads with a record of 134 Mbits/sec.Swisscom advantages
There is still work to be done
In the end, we see that Swisscom, benefiting from its position as the historic operator, continues to lead the way. However, we see on the ground, in more rural areas, that the three operators sometimes offer miserable coverage.
Obviously, the overall offer of the three operators is really of good quality, not to say impressive, like these multiple peaks of the order of gigabit reached by Swisscom. But despite this, we still see some points that can be improved (especially at Salt and Sunrise).
