Use E.164 formatting
The E.164 telephone number format is currently an international standard for formatting telephone numbers that is used worldwide. E.164 was originally developed to provide a standardized and consistent format that would allow machines to use telephone numbers reliably. It has since become the communications standard for various classes of services and software.

E.164 is an internationally recognized format that will work with virtually any software and is intended in particular for applications where it is important that these solutions be able to recognize international country codes, area codes, and the actual telephone numbers themselves within a given data string.
Please note the following points:
A telephone number in E.164 format can consist of a maximum of 15 digits.
The first part of the phone number (country code) has from one to three digits.
The second part of the number is the National Destination Code (NDC).
The last part is the subscriber number (SN).
The NDC and SN together are known as the National (Significant) Number.
The E.164 formatting standard does not use spaces, dashes, parentheses, or periods.
