During this journey, I thought my choices were not connected, but the other day, while reading about Leonardo Da Vinci, one of the greatest geniuses in the history of humanity, I discovered that the technical side and the moving and inspiring side can be represented in a single figure. A restless mind, dominated by the fascination of the world, he considered painting the supreme of the arts, where he could visually express the harmony of nature. He studied anatomy, music, made his own musical instruments, composed, wrote poems, studied the flight of birds and the aesthetics of horses, observed the weather and signs to understand meteorology. So, who was Leonardo? Painter, musician, architect, poet, biologist.
“That’s when I thought: Could Leonardo get a job at a technology company these days? For starters, his resume would raise suspicions. A man with interests ranging from the aesthetics of horses to the email list providers in germany of flying machines doesn’t seem to be a good fit. But let’s suppose he got the job. I imagine a practical situation: his boss asks him to report on a research project and he replies that it’s not possible at the moment because he’s dedicating himself to an aesthetic project he’s passionate about – painting a picture.”
