Saudi Arabian digital ride-hailing platform EGO signed an international document to implement a multilateral cooperation with NtechLab, a developer of video analytics solutions based on artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, during the Gitex Africa 2024 technology and startup exhibition that ended in Saudi Arabia. "As part of the cooperation, EGO plans to implement NtechLab's facial recognition solution to improve the driver verification service in the app. The driver will need to send a one-second video so that the AI can verify that the person on the driver's license is indeed him," EGO said in a statement.
NtechLab in the field of AI. We uganda whatsapp resource want to use NtechLab's solution to improve the security of our service in Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Morocco," said a representative of EGO.
"This is a new technological direction for us, where we can apply all our experience in using video analytics. AI is difficult to deceive. Experts from the developer and integrator of automated remote banking and financial management systems BSS believe that AI can be a useful tool for identifying drivers: "Face or voice recognition technologies make it possible to create automated driver identification systems, which will ensure safety and convenience in various situations, for example, when renting a car or in car parks."
BSS experts said that the development of high-precision face and silhouette recognition systems based on video analytics is relevant and in demand in Russia: "It helps to significantly increase the level of security on the streets, in transport, at mass events. It contributes to the prevention and detection of crimes, the search for criminals and missing persons. With the help of these technologies, it is possible to ensure contactless and reliable access control in office buildings, at enterprises and strategic facilities. In retail and banking, such systems can be used to improve the quality of customer service, for example, to identify VIP clients or in personalized advertising systems."
BSS experts mentioned that the use of such technology may also carry certain risks if a number of aspects are not observed: "Firstly, it is necessary to follow laws and regulations concerning the protection of personal data in order to avoid violating the rights of citizens. Secondly, it is important to develop and implement measures that will prevent abuse and ensure the ethical use of technologies. And of course, we must not forget that the development and implementation of such systems requires significant investments and highly qualified specialists."
Ivan Kotov, product manager for video solutions at Konica Minolta Business Solutions Russia, said that facial recognition technologies are already being used in Russia: "Yandex LLC has thus automated the process of registering drivers in the Yandex.Taxi service."
