The emergence of Big Data is a challenge for traditional data storage, but this does not necessarily mean that we should close the doors to older technologies. On the one hand, there is no doubt that information management is presented to us in this new context as a great challenge, full of exciting opportunities and substantial changes , although those do not have to disappear.
Traditional data managers, as is well known, are not the most appropriate Big Data solutions. Enterprise data warehouses (EDWs) are simply not designed to handle the storage, processing and analysis of big data.
Although they cannot meet the current business overseas chinese in europe data needs, in which data is playing an unprecedented role, it cannot be denied that EDWs provide great advantages for data storage and management. Therefore, they remain effective in meeting requirements that do not involve the storage and analysis of massive data, with a complementary utility.

Other technologies will, of course, have to deal with storing and processing big data. As has been the case until now, or even more so, when designing hybrid architectures, not compromising the integrity, security and performance of critical business data remains key.
Since data storage is what makes it possible to find answers to complex questions in large data sets, it must be governed by an integrated data model. Data is first extracted from various sources and stored for analysis in many different ways. If necessary, internal sources, usually from relational databases, can also be included.
Because extracting value from data means having efficient technologies that allow working with it with agility, security, timeliness and, ultimately, ensuring that the data is useful. Achieving this is undoubtedly one of the main challenges of data storage and both old and modern technologies, or the sum of all of them, evolve in favor of this ultimate goal.
Nowadays, data storage is expanding to respond to massive data. Not in vain, the digital data that today offers us the Big Data universe added to the Internet of Things are the new challenge in data collection, storage and analysis. And, of course, the interest in collecting data from countless sources when extracting relevant information seeks to provide key information that helps us to be more competitive.
