Cloudera Data Lake Explorer is an open source project from Qlik that makes it easy for users to navigate a Cloudera data lake and create a Qlik application on the fly. Learn more in this note and what the advantages of this new joint initiative are.
What does it consist of?
Cloudera Data Lake Explorer is the Qlik Associative Engine application that leverages Cloudera metadata (Impala, Navigator, Manager) to explore data and build a self-service Qlik Sense application without scripting. Cloudera Data Lake Explorer is one of 15 Qlik integration points with Cloudera.
The explorer interface uses the power of the Qlik Associative Engine to show how all the metadata is correlated between databases, tables, columns, metadata tags, and sql queries. It is open source and will help you understand the “big data” that exists within Cloudera. Qlik Partners can leverage this self-service approach to build their own bespoke solution that could then be offered and monetized.
In the video below, David Freirks from Qlik's innovation and armenia number data design team provides more details about the project: the process of researching the available data, the different ways of browsing and searching for the data that will make up the table, the visualization of the table, and then the creation of the Qlik application with the desired data.
In short, Cloudera Data Explorer is a new way to use the power of Qlik to navigate, understand, and leverage Big Data in a way that simplifies the user experience.
