A few years ago, my wife and I had a big goal: to go horseback riding through the Masai Mara in Kenya. It was a huge, life-changing adventure that we saved for, planned for, and worked hard for. Think about experiences that would create lifelong memories—maybe you want to travel to a special place or work on a meaningful project or hobby you’ve always dreamed of.


Why personal goals are so important
First, goals greatly increase the likelihood that you will achieve them. Saying your goal out loud, writing it down, and consciously working toward it has a powerful psychological effect.
Second, goals give life meaning. There is something incredibly satisfying about looking back and seeing what you’ve accomplished—how far you’ve come in one, five, or ten years.
