Metaverse and Virtual Platforms: A Preliminary Study of Metaverse

Post by Rina7RS »

This article describes the role of virtual platforms in the “metaverse”. Here, virtual platforms are defined as “immersive digital experience platforms, the installation, development, and operation of simulated environments and worlds, usually 3D, where users and businesses can explore, create, socialize, and participate in a wide variety of experiences e., racing, drawing, taking classes, listening to music, and engage in economic activities. These businesses differ from traditional online experiences and multiplayer video games in that they have a large ecosystem of developers and content creators that generate most of the content and produce most of the economic activity on the underlying platform.”
In the foreseeable future, most of us will interact with the austria mobile database Metaverse through consumer-facing, interactive and immersive virtual platforms. These will be accessible through a variety of devices, such as web browsers and VR headsets, and we will be able to meet, buy things, collaborate and build, learn and perform, work and relax, consume and experience the Metaverse.

Today, the most popular virtual platforms are Roblox and Minecraft, with smaller platforms like Grand Theft Auto Online and Fortnite Creative Mode since they are just a subset of their main games. Just as the leading indicators of mobile internet are smartphone penetration and usage, and the number of app developers and their total revenue, the growth of these virtual platforms is easy to track: total active users and engagement, as well as total active-user spending and developer revenue. All of these have been rising over the past decade - at least so far, and sustainably so.
