The media's overall advertising revenues in 2018 amounted to 14.443 billion euros, an increase of 4.2% compared to last year. In addition to the media's "historical" revenues, revenues from digital are included in this accounting for the first time. Here too, "the sector is driven by digital" adds Christine Robert, Deputy Director of IREP.

This growth comes mainly from revenue generated by sponsorship, which grew by 32.7% over the year , knowing that it represents between 9% and 10% of television revenue. This is explained by the relaxation of sponsorship criteria in 2017. The other growth lever is digital, which is growing by 14.2%, and which represents between 4% and 5% of overall revenue. The sale of traditional advertising space is stable (-0.3%) but still represents nearly 85% of total revenue.
