Instagram has launched a new content format called “ reels ” – 15-second clips created to perfectly match the music. They are usually short, fun and dynamic videos that you want to watch until the end.
This might sound a bit familiar to you, which is no wonder, as it's basically Instagram's answer to TikTok. They probably copied the same feature to better compete in instant content.
It's no surprise, they've done the same thing with Stories , which was originally an innovative feature on Snapchat. The good news is that it's a new way to increase awareness of your business and engage new potential clients.

What is Instagram Reels?
It's a whole new way to create short, fun, and interactive content on Instagram.
This format currently works in more than 50 countries around the world, including users in Slovakia. You can easily find out if you have this feature - when creating a story, you will see a "filmstrips" box in the bottom bar next to the "story" function.

Just like TikTok, Instagram allows you to record and edit short music videos and share them on your profile. The difference is that TikTok allows you to add up to a minute of video. Instagram allows 15 to 30 seconds.

Your reels will also appear in the “explore page” (search results) and will also appear on your profile in bookmarks - that's where you have your own posts, as well as posts where you are tagged, or your IGTV videos.

Instagram reels have their own section where you can search for them, in the search results. Yours will also appear there - to whom and when, it is decided by an algorithm that shows content to users based on what they view most often and interact with the most.
You can find Reels by clicking on the “search results” section. It’s the first, square video that offers the largest preview and is also the gateway to all of Instagram’s reels. You can tell by the little video icon buy phone number list in the bottom left.

You'll see mainly popular filmstrips from Instagram users you probably don't follow, but these accounts are currently IN and offer interesting content for you (at least that's what the algorithm thinks).
It is possible that, for example, if you follow accounts/profiles on Instagram that feature makeup transformations, you will be preferentially shown reels created by profiles in this category.
An important part of Instagram reels is the music. You can choose from Instagram's large library or use your own audio recording.
When creating a filmstrip, Instagram offers you additional editing tools, such as a timer (to help you time your music, vocals, or words just right). You also have the option to adjust the speed of the video and add a variety of effects from the menu.

When creating, you can shoot a video directly in the Instagram app or upload a video from your phone, or if you already have TikTok, you can download videos and upload them to Instagram.
Once you have a video recorded or selected from your phone, you can add text, gifs, emoji (similar to creating stories). It is not yet possible to add polls, questions, quizzes, or collections.
