CNMC ), e-commerce in Spain has increased by 26.9% year-on-year in the last quarter of 2018, reaching 10.82 billion euros. Total growth in 2018 thus stands at 29%, reaching 39.243 billion euros .
Travel agencies and tour operators are the sector with the highest revenue, accounting for 11.5% of total turnover, followed by air transport (8.6%) and clothing (6.8%).
In terms of the number of transactions , more than 205 million were recorded in the fourth quarter of 2019 , 33.2% more than last year. In the ranking of transactions, the land passenger transport sector is at the top with 7.6%. Gambling and betting (6.2%) and records, books, newspapers and stationery (5.4%) are the sectors that complete the podium.
E-commerce sites in Spain accounted for 49.2% of revenue in the fourth quarter of 2018, divided between purchases from within Spain (32.9%) and purchases originating abroad on Spanish sites (16.3%). The remaining 50.7% corresponds to purchases originating in Spain made from e-commerce sites abroad.
Revenue within Spain (in Spain to Spanish websites) has increased by bahamas phone number 14.8% year-on-year to 3.564 billion euros, with travel agencies and tour operators standing out with 9.6% of turnover, artistic, sporting and recreational shows with 7.4% and land and passenger transport (6.9%).
On the other hand, purchases from Spanish websites abroad have reached a turnover of 1,765 million euros , experiencing a growth of 50.3%. 70.0% of purchases from abroad come from the European Union. As for the sectors that register a greater volume of business from purchases made from abroad on Spanish websites, the most notable are travel agencies and tour operators (42.5%), air transport (15.6%) and hotels and similar accommodation (7.2%).
e-commerce websites abroad reached 5.491 billion euros (29.3% more than in the fourth quarter of the previous year). 95.3% of these transactions were directed to websites located within the European Union. Air transport (9.2%), fashion (8.7%) and gambling and betting (5.2%) are the branches of activity with the highest turnover from Spain to abroad.
The net foreign balance (the difference between what is purchased from abroad on Spanish websites and what is purchased from Spain abroad) shows a deficit of 3,726 million euros.
