Shilpa
Shilpa lives in Bangalore with her family. She completed her Phone Number Database Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Engineering from City College of Engineering in 2015. After completing her graduation, she started her career as a web developer at BigBasket, a popular online shopping site in India. After working there for some time, she joined Vtiger in 2017.

"Tell us about your role at Vtiger."
"I joined Vtiger as a marketing trainee. Previously, I used to handle marketing materials such as illustrative images for blogs and social media posts. After a while, I started doing video marketing, and I am currently responsible for it. The videos you see on our Youtube channel and social media profiles are made by me. To date, I have directed about 70 videos and worked on almost 100. Sometimes I also take on tasks related to website improvements."
Shilpa always dreamed of a creative career and she is certainly great at what she does. But you know what they say, it is never easy. She had to face a lot of challenges before she could make her mark.
The transition from web development to marketing was a bit challenging for her. She also had to work hard to learn CRM. “As a member of the marketing team, you have to know the product well. At least to the level where you can sell it. So, I learned about CRM on my own ,” she said.
When she started making marketing videos, she found it difficult to learn the tools, find the right ones, and make decisions on her own. But she believes that the challenges only strengthened her confidence. Go for it, Shilpa!
While talking to us about her way of working, Shilpa mentioned how difficult it was for her to accept feedback in the initial days of her marketing career. We have all been there at least once, haven’t we? When someone advises or suggests something to us, we take it as criticism. And by doing so, we only undermine our self-confidence. Shilpa says,
“Initially, I had a lot of difficulty because I did not take feedback positively. I used to get frustrated and disheartened. But then, I adapted to the work culture here and over time, I have improved. Today, I am open to feedback. I don’t mind making even 100 corrections in my work, whether it is from my seniors or juniors. If it is a valid point of view, I accept it.”
Shilpa is dedicated to her professional life. "Sometimes I work early in the morning and late at night ," she laughs.
She feels like she has become more productive, especially since the lockdown began. So productive that her mom usually asks her, “When are you planning to give me time?” Well, no excuses… You have to make time for your mom, Shilpa!
But the best part is that Shilpa's passion is her work. And to satisfy her passion, she does digital art on Procreate and is actively working on improving her skills. She also has an Instagram handle where she wants to create awareness for her work on social media.
