Why do you want to have a blog?
Many things come from this, such as the style, the subject matter or the frequency with which you are going to publish. It is not the same to write because you want to inform, or because you want to share your opinion on a current topic, or because you want to express your feelings in writing... in short. If you want to inform, frequency is very important, you must be informed and publish constantly (as soon as the event occurs). If it is about writing about your feelings, you will do it when you feel inspired.
Who do you want to write your blog for?
This is closely related to the previous point. You need to know your audience well, understand what they want to read. If it is a specialized audience and topic, you need to speak their language, use their terminology. Personally, I prefer to write in a relaxed language, without too pretentious words. I am not writing to scholars, or PhD students. At least not for now, not on this blog.
What are you going to write on your blog?
It's funny, but there are a lot of people who tend to write without having a clear idea. For some, it works very well to sit down and let the words carry them away. I think that, at the very least, you have to have a clear central idea and let the ramifications emerge (in fact, creativity can play an important role). But if you have a clear idea of what the beginning, middle and end will be like. Do you remember what they teach us in school? Yes, it works. Also, if you have all this clear, you will do it faster and without getting distracted by any butterfly that fluttered in the neighborhood park.
