While the video is uploading, scroll down to the bottom of the Details screen and click See more. Then look for the Shorts mix option. To allow clip mixing, check the "Allow video and audio mixing" option.

Please note that when remixing is enabled, any eligible user will be able to sample up to 5 seconds of your long video in their own content. However, users cannot import your content into short videos without adding any footage or editing. Starting in June 2023, only the original creator (i.e. your channel) can import long videos up to 60 seconds directly into Shorts.

If you want to repurpose a clip that doesn't have Video Mix enabled, you can adjust the settings after the initial upload. Open the YouTube Studio dashboard and go to the content panel. Click Edit any video, then scroll down to view the Shorts mix settings on the video details panel. Select Allow video and audio mixing and save to apply the settings.

If you need to enable audio mixing for multiple videos, you can change the settings in batches to save time. In YouTube Studio's content panel, select the checkbox next to all related videos. Click the Edit button to open the drop-down menu and select the Shorts mix. Then select Allow video and audio mixing and click the Update Video button to apply the changes.
