Benefits of Home Office for companies
One of the challenges we have faced with the COVID-19 contingency has been to continue carrying out our daily activities while respecting the recommended safety measures. Home Office has been a concept that we have been hearing about in recent weeks.


Working from home poses two scenarios: employees are ig database and therefore more productive, or activities simply will not be carried out correctly . We have to take into account that a large part of the result of this modality is the attitude taken towards the situation, since it requires a commitment from both parties.

In our country, although there are some companies that use this modality (mainly the technology industry), the reality is that many prefer not to do so for various reasons, including the lack of technological infrastructure, processes that are not compatible with the modality or simply a lack of confidence in their employees.

This last point is due to the fact that there is a mistaken perception about the Home Office and refers to the fact that working from home implies the poor performance of activities and that in the long term this does not allow the organization's objectives to be met

. Like any team activity, communication will be the fundamental process that will allow us to establish agreements and carry out our work optimally . Working from home does not have to represent a problem in achieving the organization's objectives.

It is important to mention that working from home implies prior work in the organization by team leaders and/or the Human Resources department, since it is first necessary to ensure that both collaborators and their leaders know the responsibilities of each person through a job description, which allows both parties to know what they can ask for and expect from each collaborator.


Once this is defined, it is important to have a written support related to the work modality , since, although for some “Home Office” is a familiar concept, for others it will be very important to describe the way in which the activities are expected to be developed ; this writing can include recommendations about the workplace at home, set schedules, options of tools to use to maintain communication with their leaders, etc.

Employees are not the only ones who benefit from working from home, the organization can reduce absenteeism, increase productivity and save money since employees work from home using electricity, internet and other services that they themselves cover.
