Localization goes beyond translation . While translation is defined as converting a written text in one language to another, localization is the adaptation of content by transferring concepts specific to a target audience. Localization adapts a product to a certain country or region in which it will be used and/or sold. It takes into account traditions, beliefs, and customs: in short, the culture as a whole. It applies not only to written words, but to all elements such as colors, layout, numbers, and all the elements that make up the content of a website, an advertisement, or a video game.

For example, localization reflects this difference between simply translating an advertisement that will be broadcast in the United States (from English to Spanish to reach various Spanish-speaking markets) and carefully adapting its content for each country or Spanish-speaking person who would watch it, which will allow you to reach that target audience directly.

“New words” are words, phrases or segments northern mariana island business email list that the CAT tool does not recognize because they have never been mentioned before in the text. They are then integrated into the translation memory.

"New words" are generally those that represent the largest part of a project: their number will then be used as a basis for establishing the cost of a translation project.

TAO tools
This is one of the most common acronyms in the translation industry. The acronym CAT stands for Computer-Assisted Translation or CAT in English (which has nothing to do with cats). In fact, CAT facilitates the translation process: a good companion for the translator, a bit like a cat in the end.

CAT speeds up translation by breaking the source text into shorter segments and organizing them in a way that makes the translator's job easier. As a result, translation goes much faster. Some CAT tools allow for editing and managing translations; a collaboration between human and machine that optimizes the translation process. Be careful, however, not to confuse CAT with machine translation.
