SPC and Serasa: as a retailer, do you already know what they are for and their main differences, and whether the SERASA and SPC query is the same?

Many retail entrepreneurs believe that these two institutions skype database refer to the same thing, but in fact, they have different functions.

The first point we can make is that this confusion is justifiable, because until a few years ago all Brazilian FCDLs and CDLs were concentrated in the Credit Protection Service (SPC). However, the databases were separated, thus giving rise to the Central Credit Protection Service (SCPC).

Want to know more about these topics and how to differentiate between SPC and Serasa?

Continue here, prepare your notes and enjoy reading!

WHAT IS SERASA AND WHEN CAN IT BE USEFUL IN EVERYDAY LIFE?
The Serasa Institution has existed since 1968, a partnership between the Brazilian Federation of Banking Associations (FEBRABAN) and the Association of Banks of the State of São Paulo (ASSOBESP) and currently belongs to the Irish company Experian.

It is useful for retailers because when someone fails to pay a debt, the company is notified and the person then receives a letter informing them of the negative listing, with a period of ten days to resolve the situation. This way, anyone can check their CPF for free at Serasa Experian branches.

WHAT IS SPC AND WHEN MIGHT YOU NEED IT IN YOUR DAY-TO-DAY LIFE?
The Credit Protection Service, SPC Brasil, is found mainly at the CDL – Chamber of Shopkeepers – in the city, and, like Serasa, sells to shopkeepers the list of individuals and legal entities that are currently in debt .

It is a great ally, because its database provides free information to citizens and retailers about their credit situations, subject to the rules of the Consumer Protection Code.

IS A SERASA AND SPC CONSULTATION THE SAME THING?
Although, as we mentioned earlier, both have similar services and can therefore cause some confusion, they rely on different data sources. In other words, while SPC collects data from accredited retailers, Serasa accesses data from financial institutions.

And another very important point: the SPC provides free consultation upon registration and only for the CPF holder. In other cases, this service is paid, but it can also be done online. Serasa provides the service free of charge.

AND WHAT IS THE CENTRAL CREDIT PROTECTION SERVICE (SCPC)?
The acronym SCPC stands for the Central Credit Protection Service and this center is an institution managed by Boa Vista Serviços. The SCPC was created in 1955 and its main objective was to help Brazilian companies carry out credit operations and commercial transactions more safely.

In this sense, if a person fails to pay a debt, the SCPC sends a letter requesting regularization. However, all negotiations are the direct responsibility of the creditor company.

DOES MY CREDIT CREDIT HELP WITH DEFAULT AND DEBT CONTROL?
Of course, a simple CPF query will not solve your problem and reduce defaults. Quite the opposite. When a store only uses information from the SPC and credit bureaus to analyze the customer, its entire operation ends up being weakened.

With this in mind, you should know that only by relying on a specialized credit analysis system can you identify truly safe opportunities to save money during the consultation. This is the role of a tool like Meu Crediário.

Based on the credit score, our platform is able to assess the customer's default risks and monitor their payment history to guide the credit provider's action . So, you no longer need to wonder whether or not to consult the customer's SPC.
